Bio
Paul Butterworth is a Cambridge-based painter and film/TV actor. His vibrant, geometric abstract paintings explore colour, rhythm, and emotional connection, drawing on a deep understanding of performance, gesture and narrative. A 2024 graduate of the University for the Creative Arts (BA Hons Painting), Paul was recently one of 11 shortlisted artists for the RISE Emerging Artist Prize and was a winner in The Graduate Art Show, leading to his inclusion in the Winners’ Exhibition at Vanner Gallery. His work has also been recognised by Jackson’s Art Prize, the Beep Painting Biennial, and Homiens Art Prize.
Alongside his painting practice, Paul continues his near five decade acting career. You may have seen him as Barry in The Full Monty or in one of his many TV roles.
